A logo for a summer-abroad soccer camp.

BriefEvery summer, the LITA Fútbol program offers highschool level soccer teams to play against Spanish club teams in their home country. This project was to create a uniform for U.S. coaches by integrating a soccer icon into the existing LITA ‘Map’ logo.

TypeIn order to adapt the existing LITA logo to the program, I considered multiple font pairing options before presenting three options to the client.

DIN 2014 is part of LITA’s branded materials, and is bold, geometric and modern in combination with the original logo script. Suwannaphum is a slab serif with a similar height to DIN 2014 , but has a more traditional, sporty tone. Archivo Narrow, similar to the DIN 2014 but with a slight vertical stretch, is a more contemporary and utilitarian option.

We moved forward with Suwannaphum: it’s classical tone contrasts well with the playful script and speaks to both the integrity of the program and the legacy of Spanish fútbol.

LogoThe logo iterations that followed focused on two layouts, the map and the crest, inspired by the crest of the Spanish National Team.

The final logo integrates the new lettering and the ball icon into the composition of the Spanish map.
