Vella’s work explores the use of 
cute characters by corporate or government entities as a violent front, preying on evolutionary impulses of care and pity elicited 
by big-eyes, non-human or infantilized creatures. 

The work is a reaction to exploration abroad in Tokyo, Japan – 
reconciling the use of ‘cute’ images in an advertising context; addressing cute as a dystopian intermediary between nature and capital.
